Meet Mary Barbara

Mary Barbara Alexander grew up in a working class family in Columbus, Ohio, and dreamed of becoming a cowboy, a veterinarian, an entertainer and a planetary hero. She studied Theatre at Smith College, and earned a master’s degree in Zoology (concentrating on primate behavior) from The Ohio State University.

Before beginning her professional acting career she worked as an environmental administrator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mary Barbara was a member of the Apple Corps Theater Company in NewYork City and appeared in various productions off-off Broadway as well as several soap operas. She spent the early 80’s in Los Angeles and returned to New York just after the birth of her daughter.

In addition to her passion for acting, Mary Barbara loves horseback riding, cooking, scuba diving, gardening and flower arranging. She loves tools and her John Deere tractor; she enjoys fixing and refurbishing things; and she is an environmental activist. When she’s not on her small horse farm in Florida with her husband of 52 years, their daughter, horses, dogs, cats and lots of lizards, you’ll find her traveling the world and exploring new cultures.
